SG Constructors attained ISO 45001 Safety Certification
Jan 11th, 2022
SG Constructors (The Stainton Group) is very pleased to announce it has attained ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Certification
ISO 45001 is recognized by 64 countries around the world as the international standard for occupational health and safety management, enabling organizations to provide safe and health workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health.
According to the International Labour Organization, more than 7,600 people die from work-related accidents or diseases everyday worldwide. One death or injury is too many. At SG Constructors we place worker and workplace safety as the non-negotiable, number one priority in our service delivery model (the Four Keys). We don’t just say it – we do it. Every day.
“We know that creating a safety-first culture means that you always have to evolve and strive for perfection with each action, each working day. At SG Constructors we knew that achieving ISO 45001 certification was a significant goal – but also a designation that was critical to allowing us to be true to our safety vision,” said Matt Stainton, President of SG Constructors, The Stainton Group.
This certification has helped us implement the most stringent guidelines and policies so that we could not just practice our philosophy, but lead and convince others in the industry to do the same,” said Stainton.
ISO 45001 was developed with input from 70 countries, with consideration of other related standards, such as OHSAS 18001, occupational health and safety management, the International Labour Organization’s ILO-OSH 2001 guidelines and various national standards, and is consistent with the ILO’s international labour standards and conventions. It is also accredited by the Chief Prevention Officer of Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, Training, and Skills Development.
This very high level of certification helps organizations to put in place an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system that help them manage their OH&S risks and continually improve their OH&S performance by developing and implementing effective policies and objectives.
In short, for organizations that are serious about improving employee safety, reducing workplace risks and creating better, safer working conditions …there is ISO 45001.
Achieving this very big and important goal was not easy and required the help and dedication of implementation experts to make sure that we not just met but exceeded the stringent policies and practices of this very high level of safety standards certification.
We would like to thank our internal SG Constructors team leader on this initiative Colin Snaith, P. Eng, as well our external partner Kevin Brown, CEO of Cobalt Safety Consulting Inc. whose company specializes in the navigation of and implementation of end-to-end safety programs and certifications. As well, we offer special thanks to Chris Paquette of QMS Global, our very skilled and dedicated ISO auditor.
